Mazzoli’s The Shield of the Heart is the Heart opens with a contemporary perspective for strings, followed by Poulenc’s Gloria, performed with Chorus Austin, blending reverence with moments of brightness and energy. Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé closes the program, offering an expansive work that combines chorus and orchestra in a detailed and evolving soundscape. Together with Chorus Austin, these works create a program that reflects on voice, texture, and the connection between tradition and modern composition.
